Drooling over the new iPhone

Jun 30, 2010   //   by admin   //   GeekSpeak  //  No Comments

geek-speak-newsletterSay Hello to the new iPhone 4!

iPhone 4 is now here….well, almost.

Steve Jobs, Apples iCEO, unveiled iPhone 4 at during his keynote presentation in June. Steve is known for creating “Reality distortion field” during his keynotes.

His mind control lures us sheep into believing what he presents will change the world AND that we have to have one.

Ba-aaaa! I’m falling for it again. And I’m not alone. Last month, when they became available for pre-order, over 600,000 were sold on the first day! Apple and its resellers were slammed.

Literally, their networks broke.

Apple issued a written apology on “pre-order day saying, “[the demand was] “far higher than we anticipated,” which resulted in “many order and approval system malfunctions.” So much demand that they halted all pre-orders <now available again at apple.com>. So what is all of the hype about?

First off, iPhone 4 runs on Apple latest mobile operating system iOS4. This is free download for iPhone 3G and (s) phones. I’m downloading it as I type. ~:-) iOS4 boast over 100 new features including:

Multitasking
Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily.

Folders
Organize apps into folders with drag-and-drop simplicity. Get faster access to your favorites and browse and manage up to 2160 apps.

Even better Mail
See messages from all your accounts in a unified inbox, organize messages by threads, open attachments in third-party apps, and more.

iBooks
More than a great ebook reader, iBooks is also an amazing place to browse and shop for books, day or night.

Create playlists
Create custom playlists right on your iPhone.

5x digital zoom
Get closer to your subjects by zooming in up to 5x.

Tap to focus video
While shooting video, tap the display to choose where to focus.

Faces and Places in Photos
View photos based on who’s in them and where they were taken.

Spell checking
A built-in dictionary automatically suggests words and corrects spelling. It works in Mail, Notes, and other apps.

Wireless keyboard support
Pair a keyboard based on Bluetooth wireless technology with your iPhone.

Here are some highlights on iPhone 4 (the phone). I admit I’m going to speed through them so I can get in line and buy my own.

New “Retina display”.
The highest resolution display on any phone.

Multi-tasking
The new OS supports Multi-Tasking the new Phone has the hardware to to back it up. This will allow you to move from app (application) to app seamlessly.

Video Editing
Today many phones can record video. iPhone 4 raises the bar with HD Video recording AND editing. WOW in-phone editing of your movies. That will be awesome!

Front and Back Cameras
Front and Back 5-Megapixel cameras with new LED flash.

But, wait there is one more thing…..

Video Calls
iPhone 4 now offers Video Calling. You know, like the Jetsons. You both hear and see each other while you talk. Michelle and I have made quite a few such calls to friends and family, and even done ministry from our computers over the years. It is cool, but it can often be a pain setting up people on the other end. Apple aims to change this with the “tap of a button, [and] you can wave Hello to your kids, share a smile from across the globe, or watch your best friend laugh at your stories — iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi”. Steve commented that AT&T and other carriers are working on doing the calls over 3G & 4G networks.

Do I NEED an iPhone 4?
That is a tough question. Maybe not, but here is the kicker. My 16GB 3G is worth about $300 on craigslist and the new iPhones (with 2 year contracts) are $200 for a 16GB and $300 for a 32GB. Sounds like I need one. ~:-)

600,000 iPhone 4s sold on day 1!

Jun 16, 2010   //   by admin   //   GeekSpeak  //  No Comments

ap_iphone_100616_mnIf you are excited to get a new iPhone 4 you are not alone.  Both Apple’s and AT&T sites collapsed under the load from the demand.  The hype is that it will revolutionize the world again.  I think Apple may have done it.

At first glance it appears to be an amazing device.  One of must have features is FaceTime video conferencing.  Hello – Jetsons!

But, it looks like are all going to have to wait.

REMINDER: COUPON UPDATES DUE 6.21.2010

Greetings!

Happy June to all of our valued clients!

This message is going out to all our eMail Marketing and Boxnet clients.

Please let us know if you are needing eClub sign up forms or return envelopes.

eMail Marketing!

This month we have already sent out over 7200 eMails for you! I have never counted before, but even I am amazed (you think I wouldn’t be since I manage this project)! Wow!

I think that is wonderful. I am excited to say, clients that haven’t sent any new contacts before, have done so in the last month, combine that with the contacts that sign up on your web sites and we have some pretty good communicating happening!

There is a chance we can even do better. When was the last time you checked the eMail accounts in your eMail address book? There may be new contacts in there that have not been added to our managing system. If you have never exported your address book, or if it has been so long that you don’t remember, I want to steer you to our knowledge base at omOriginals.com. For directions to export your address books from Apple Mail, Gmail, Outlook, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! please Click Here.

I will look forward to a few new .csv files with new contacts coming to my eMail box soon!

Later in the month we will be sending The First Day of Summer eMails…that is right…summer is on the way (although when I am around…Summer is always here)!

I would love input toward the Independence Day eMails we will send on July 1st! Please include suggestions with your coupon/info updates due June 21st.

Testimonial from Recent Class

If you are looking for someone to help you that mirrors all of the other “run of the mill” providers out there, you will be disappointed. This man screams creativity and thinking outside of the box yet has a strong focus and knowledge on his topic.

I was part of a group of business people at a workshop Oscar was facilitating. We all had laptops and shared a wireless internet connection. He had two topics to cover that night. Prior to attending I was pessimistic as to how anyone could effectively cover the topics in the time frame allotted.

Keep in mind, 15-20 people on their personal laptops! We left that night very knowledgeable on the topics he presented and feeling well served. This man is a pro! He will be my source for future training! Thanks Oscar!

Domain Owners Be Educated & Beware!

Jun 1, 2010   //   by admin   //   GeekSpeak  //  No Comments

This month I wish to warn you about an ongoing domain name scam and to educate you on the different types of domains. If you have a website then you surely own a domain. A domain is the address of your website. An example of a domain name is ValleyBugler.COM. The major domain extensions .com, .org, & .net can be registered for one or more years at a time. For maximum search engine ranking it is now suggested to register your domain for 5 years or more. This “tells” the search engines that your company is committed to developing your website.

Don’t lose your domain.
It is important to keep your domain registered or else you can loose it. There are lots of companies that wait for domains to expire and then register them up for their own gain. I recommend having a reminder on your calendar for the due date of your domain.

That being said, when a bill comes for you to renew your domain read it VERY carefully.
Every year I hear of businesses getting an “official looking invoice” from the Domain Registry of America, Liberty Domain names or Domain Renewal Group. Both of these companies (and others) send eMails and snail mail letters to registrants (the people that own domains) that look like invoices, but they are just solicitations. If you look closely it says that it is not a bill, but many people pay. ~:-) This is the same tactic that is known as slamming in the phone industry.

The result: Your domain is then transferred to their company for about $30 year! Most domains should cost about $15/year. This can be a mess. If you have any question where your domain is registered I suggest that you call your web site developer before paying any domain bills. If they don’t know, you can call my office and we can give that info to you. ~:-)

I’m often asked, “What is the difference between domain extensions?”

.com represents the word “commercial,” and is the most widely used extension in the world. Most businesses prefer a .com domain name because it is a highly recognized symbol for having a business presence on the Internet.

.net represents the word “network,” and was created for use by Internet service providers. In reality I see most businesses attempt to get a .com and they use the .net as a second choice. omOrginals Marketing! could technically be a .net, but we’ve embraced the .com.

.org represents the word “organization,” and is primarily used by non-profits groups or trade associations.

.biz is used for small business Web sites.

.gov is used for government Web sites.

.info is for credible resource Web sites and signifies a “resource” web site. It’s the most popular extension beyond .com, .net and .org.

.mobi (short for “mobile”) is reserved for Web sites built for easy viewing on mobile devices. There was a lot of hype with .mobi, but all sites should go mobile. I don’t see a reason for this extension.

.us is for American Web sites and is the newest extension. It has the largest amount of available names in inventory.

.cc was originally the country code for Coco’s Keeling Islands. It is unrestricted and may be registered by anyone, from any country.

.bz was originally designated as the country code for Belize, but is now commonly used by small business who can’t get the name they want using the .biz extension. It is unrestricted and may be registered by anyone, from any country.

.tv is for rich content/multi-media Web sites, commonly used within the entertainment or media industry.

.ws was originally designated as the country code for Western Samoa, but is now commonly used as an acronym for “Web sites.” It is unrestricted and may be registered by anyone, from any country.

.name is the only domain extension specifically designed for personal use. It is commonly used for easy to remember e-mail addresses and personal web sites that display photos or personal information about an individual.

.pro is a new extension. is open to all professionals and licensed business owners in any country, Business license owners are also eligible.

Be the master of your domain.
Be sure to review your domain registration bills and consider registering for 5 years. If you have any questions about domains and/or need help with registration we’d be glad to help. ~:-)

Client Kudos :-)

I just want to let you know how happy I am that I switched my website. I absolutely LOVE the ability to change the website on my own.

It is freaking easy and looks great. I also really like having the blog connected to the website. It is so slick.

Thanks,
