Drooling over the new iPhone
Say Hello to the new iPhone 4!
iPhone 4 is now here….well, almost.
Steve Jobs, Apples iCEO, unveiled iPhone 4 at during his keynote presentation in June. Steve is known for creating “Reality distortion field” during his keynotes.
His mind control lures us sheep into believing what he presents will change the world AND that we have to have one.
Ba-aaaa! I’m falling for it again. And I’m not alone. Last month, when they became available for pre-order, over 600,000 were sold on the first day! Apple and its resellers were slammed.
Literally, their networks broke.
Apple issued a written apology on “pre-order day saying, “[the demand was] “far higher than we anticipated,” which resulted in “many order and approval system malfunctions.” So much demand that they halted all pre-orders <now available again at apple.com>. So what is all of the hype about?
First off, iPhone 4 runs on Apple latest mobile operating system iOS4. This is free download for iPhone 3G and (s) phones. I’m downloading it as I type. ~:-) iOS4 boast over 100 new features including:
Multitasking
Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily.
Folders
Organize apps into folders with drag-and-drop simplicity. Get faster access to your favorites and browse and manage up to 2160 apps.
Even better Mail
See messages from all your accounts in a unified inbox, organize messages by threads, open attachments in third-party apps, and more.
iBooks
More than a great ebook reader, iBooks is also an amazing place to browse and shop for books, day or night.
Create playlists
Create custom playlists right on your iPhone.
5x digital zoom
Get closer to your subjects by zooming in up to 5x.
Tap to focus video
While shooting video, tap the display to choose where to focus.
Faces and Places in Photos
View photos based on who’s in them and where they were taken.
Spell checking
A built-in dictionary automatically suggests words and corrects spelling. It works in Mail, Notes, and other apps.
Wireless keyboard support
Pair a keyboard based on Bluetooth wireless technology with your iPhone.
Here are some highlights on iPhone 4 (the phone). I admit I’m going to speed through them so I can get in line and buy my own.
New “Retina display”.
The highest resolution display on any phone.
Multi-tasking
The new OS supports Multi-Tasking the new Phone has the hardware to to back it up. This will allow you to move from app (application) to app seamlessly.
Video Editing
Today many phones can record video. iPhone 4 raises the bar with HD Video recording AND editing. WOW in-phone editing of your movies. That will be awesome!
Front and Back Cameras
Front and Back 5-Megapixel cameras with new LED flash.

But, wait there is one more thing…..
Video Calls
iPhone 4 now offers Video Calling. You know, like the Jetsons. You both hear and see each other while you talk. Michelle and I have made quite a few such calls to friends and family, and even done ministry from our computers over the years. It is cool, but it can often be a pain setting up people on the other end. Apple aims to change this with the “tap of a button, [and] you can wave Hello to your kids, share a smile from across the globe, or watch your best friend laugh at your stories — iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi”. Steve commented that AT&T and other carriers are working on doing the calls over 3G & 4G networks.
Do I NEED an iPhone 4?
That is a tough question. Maybe not, but here is the kicker. My 16GB 3G is worth about $300 on craigslist and the new iPhones (with 2 year contracts) are $200 for a 16GB and $300 for a 32GB. Sounds like I need one. ~:-)
